Jiufen is a hillside town, and the first thing to know is the stairs. The main route through the old street is the stone staircase around Shuqi Road, with a big vertical drop and no lift or alternative path partway. The official dataset records only 15 toilets in this radius, of which just 3 are accessible — the tightest of all locations on this site. The usable ones are mostly at car parks, the visitor centres (Jiufen Visitor Center and the Qingbian Road one) and around temples, which means they sit at the two ends of the old street rather than in the middle.
